Course Summary

Each hoarding case is unique, they involve juggling a lot of different elements which is often challenging to manage, especially if you are working on multiple cases at once. It is not uncommon to feel overwhelmed by -

  • The amount of moving parts a support journey involves.
  • The lack of, or high volume of, organisations involved in the clients care.
  • The road to recovery being a lengthly process, requiring barriers to consistently be overcome.
  • Client engagement needing constant work to keep it strong and moving in a positive direction.

This course will provide practitioners with the knowledge and skills to successfully manage the consistent demands of hoarding cases, helping them to implement a framework that can be be used for each client but moulded to their individual needs, reinforcing the person lead practice that should already be in place.

It has been developed with the practitioners own wellbeing taken into account too, with the aim of reducing the risk of burnt out from overwhelming pressure and stress, resulting in positive results for all involved.

The focus is centred around Supportive Intervention, how to adopt a strength-based approach, harness strengths and weaknesses within a multi-agency setting whilst mitigating the risks of enforced action and/or homelessness.
