Course Summary

The first course in our hoarding training journey, it provides learners with a understanding of what the condition is, the skills to successfully support clients through a person-centred and empathetic approach and offers strategies on developing multi-agency working with other agencies involved in the clients care.

This course has been developed by our two trainers who have over fifty years of combined experience with supporting clients living in hoarded homes. The techniques outlined are derived from their day-to-day practice which has involved years of facing and overcoming barriers, this has resulted in solid strategies that learners can be confident will greatly benefit their own practice.

No one wants to take action that could ultimately end with the person losing their home, hoarding disorder is a recognised mental health condition so being equip with the correct knowledge to support and work alongside clients will result in more positive and long term results for all involved. This course will bring to life a journey for both the person and the learner that will help them live safely with support.

This was a breath of fresh air, because of the way the modules were structured, we got a chance to share and participate while focussing on the detailed presentations, I enjoyed learning from the different specialisms represented by the attendees. The contents was very informative and relevant and I appreciated the attention given to different frameworks, case studies, and legal and statutory requirements and guidelines. I think Sharon was a great tutor and very well-informed on case studies, statutes, and dates.
