Let’s Talk About Hoarding Seminar at The University of Birmingham
Closing out 2024 with another great event set up by our psychologist Sam and director Heather at the University of Birmingham educating students on Hoarding Disorder!
It was a collaborative learning session aimed at trainee clinical psychologists, student mental health nurses and student social workers focusing on understanding hoarding disorder and support methods. By offering attendees the opportunity to practice working across disciplines it also embedded and showcased how important a multi-agency approach is when supporting clients with hoarding behaviour.
Not only did they get to hear from Heather & Sam about the practitioner side of working with clients, some wonderful members of our support group came along to share a client side view too, embedding even further than the multi-agency approach must ALWAYS include the client every step of the way too!
Thanks so much to the University of Birmingham for continually allowing us to use their facilities to raise awareness and provide education on hoarding disorder, the wonderful members of our support group who bravely share their stories to help others and Sam, for being such an incredible part of the Clouds End team!
We are forever grateful for the direct link Sam offers us into the psychological research of hoarding disorder, enabling us to continually challenge and review our own working methods to ensure our client and practitioner support services are always up to date and forward thinking! We cannot wait to share more about Sam’s PhD in the new year!
