BBC News feature our Chaos To Order Project

One for the history books.. our BBC News Campaign!

The response to the feature that went out last week has been nothing we could have ever anticipated, we are absolutely blown away! Our founder Heather is quoting it as ‘The best week of her life’.. After she has spent nearly two decades supporting clients and campaigning for change, I think we can all agree it is LONG overdue and VERY well deserved.

A big thank you to Ben Godfrey, correspondent at BBC Midlands Today, for approaching us and coordinating this incredible feature on our Chaos to Order Project to help raise much-needed awareness about the reality of hoarding disorder.  It has been an incredible opportunity to be able to showcase our project on a national platform, highlighting the complex challenges faced by individuals living with hoarding behaviours, and the importance of compassionate, person-centred support.

Our incredible clients Sue, David and Rosemary are what made this a huge eye opener to many, they bravely allowed the camera’s inside their homes to raise awareness into the reality of hoarding disorder. Trauma, grief and challenging emotions are often tied into the items held onto which makes it extremely difficult for a lot of people to openly speak about their hoarding journeys, we are beyond grateful for their vulnerability to share their stories. It will have helped those facing hoarding challenges to realise the behaviour is a completely natural response to life experiences, nothing to be ashamed off and that they do not need to suffer in silence.

The feature has been a fantastic way to walk into @hoardingawarenessweek which is taking place next week, 12th – 16th May! Sharing real stories and the impact of positive support projects helps to challenge stigma, encourage understanding, and open up vital conversations around a mental health condition that affects far more people than many realise.
