Places with a far-flung mystique such as the Siwa Oasis in Egypt or Antarctica tend to be appealing says collector Kyoko Tamura. Katherine Schaefer who helms Simon Lee Gallery in Hong Kong echoes this sentiment. “Progressive collectors are adventurous,” she exclaims, giving the example of art patron groups trekking out to Iran.
